Welcome to 2011!

Everyone at RESULTS UK would like to send our readers a short welcome to 2011! We hope your holidays were good, restful and invigorating, as we have a very exciting year lined up for 2011.The big news is that DFID has launched its business plans for Maternal Health and for Malaria, which the UK development community has been anticipating eagerly as these are new key areas of DFID’s focus. We will be reporting back in greater detail on what this means for our focus issues later this week.

Other big events for the calendar this year include DFID finalising and publishing the results of their Multilateral and Bilateral Aid Reviews. Again, the entire development community both in the UK and abroad is waiting to see what conclusions DFID comes to as this review will be critical in shaping DFID’s spending over the next five years and will send a strong signal to other donors, reverberating far beyond our shores.

At RESULTS, we are looking forward to the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day on the 8th of March, shortly followed by World TB Day on the 24th of March. Look out for some exciting opportunities to get involved with around those dates.

Another important anniversary is the Silver Jubilee for RESULTS UK: we have been active in the UK for 25 years! Put our National Conference 2011 into your diary now for April 9-11th so you can come down to London and join us for all the celebrations.

We have lots of other events and activities lined up for the year, some of which aren’t quite ready for sharing yet. Rest assured though, this is going to be another landmark year for RESULTS and we are absolutely looking forward to working with our grassroots, donors and friends of RESULTS to continue generating the power to end poverty.
