Aaron Oxley visits Sheffield and Scottish RESULTS groups

Aaron Oxley

RESULTS Executive Director Aaron Oxley is visiting RESULTS groups across the UK this week, with a particular focus on Scotland. Aaron will be meeting with grassroots activists from our Scottish groups and helping them to reach out to their communities to spread the word about RESULTS and engage more people in local actions that will have a global impact on eradicating poverty from the planet.

Aaron’s trip started yesterday, when he visited our Sheffield group to participate in a Global Poverty Project presentation at Sheffield University. The event was very well-attended, with about 150 people coming along to see the ‘1.4 Billion Reasons’ presentation and to hear about how they can help to end poverty.

Aaron was able speak about RESULTS’ work on microinsurance to protect poor farmers from the effects of climate change. This topic is going to be the basis of our October action, which will be available online later today. Many of those who attended the event signed up to get involved in RESULTS, so we hope this will provide a strong base for the Sheffield group to grow over the next year.

Over the next few days Aaron will be visiting our groups in Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Linlithgow to speak to activists about how their local groups are going and to participate in ‘Welcome to RESULTS’ meetings designed to introduce the local community to the RESULTS model and recruit new members for the groups. If you are in the area or have friends who are, do feel free to come along to find out more. Details of the events are below.

Do come along with family, friends, colleagues and find out more about RESULTS and how you can become involved in the fight against poverty! Staff and local volunteers from groups in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Linlithgow will be on hand at all the locations to answer any questions you might have.

If you are in any of the cities mentioned above and would like to come or know someone who might be interested in attending, please pass on these details or get in touch with Julia for more details (julia.modern@results.org.uk).
