The Director of the Microcredit Summit Campaign, Sam Daley-Harris, flew to London today in order to give a compelling presentation about the forthcoming Africa-Middle East Regional Microcredit Summit taking place in Nairobi on April 7th-10th.
Sam shared the gripping experience of some of his encounters with microfinance clients, such as former beggars who rose from poverty through the ground-breaking Jamii Bora Trust in Kenya.
Sam also answered numerous questions concerning the forthcoming Summit, which will be the largest microfinance regional summit programme ever, bringing together 2,000 delegates from more than 40 countries and key speakers such as Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mohammed Yunus.
The briefing event held today in London gave the opportunity to bring up the fruitful range of subjects that will be tackled at the Summit and to already discuss several of them.
We’re aware that not everyone who would like to go will be able to make it all the way to Nairobi in April, and we’re exploring ways to help the UK microfinance community get the most out of the event. Keep your eye on this blog and on the APPG-Microfinance/Microcredit website and we’ll provide more information as it becomes available.
