NGOs express concern about low EC support for health in Africa

RESULTS UK and nine other organisations have written to Prime Minister Gordon Brown urging him to ensure that the EC increases the amount it spends on health and that all EU member states commit their fair share to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.

The letter was written in response to a report by the EU Court of Auditors which showed that allocations to the health sector in sub-Saharan Africa have not increased, as a proportion of total ODA since 2000 despite the EC’s commitments to the MDGs.
